Erathosthenes
Greek mathematician, geographer and astronomer

[ Born: 276 B.C. / Cyrene, Greece. ]
[ Died: 195 B.C. / Egypt. ]
- Made a surprisingly accurate measurement for the circumference of the earth using the midday sun and rough distances measured between Alexandria and Syene in Egypt.
- Developed the “Sieve of Erathosthenes”, which was a simple formula to determine all prime numbers, which works accurately up to ~10million.
Trivia - Allegedly, Erathosthenes was nicknamed “Beta” as he could prove himself to be second-best in almost every field.
